A hotel night manager is recruited by a government agent to infiltrate the trusted inner circle of a ruthless arms dealer.
In Cairo at the height of the Arab Spring, hotel night manager Jonathan Pine receives a plea for help from an elegant, well-connected guest. His actions draw him into the terrifying world of Richard Roper, businessman, arms dealer, worst man in the world.
In present day Switzerland, Pine’s path crosses with Roper once again. Pine makes contact with Burr, who persuades him to get revenge and help her infiltrate Roper’s organisation.
On the island of Mallorca, Roper’s life of luxury and calm is shattered. Meanwhile, Pine has crossed the bridge into criminality, which is then burnt behind him. In London, Burr and Steadman meet with MI6 in an attempt to throw them off the scenators.
While he continues to recuperate in Roper’s villa, Pine risks discovery when he breaks into Roper’s study and finds chilling evidence of Roper’s next deal. Meanwhile, Burr and Steadman seize on an opportunity to recruit a new asset.
Roper welcomes Pine into his inner circle, leaving Corky in the cold. Meanwhile, Burr has concerns for the safety of her source when she suspects key information has been leaked to the River House.
Pine takes matters into his own hands after Burr deems the operation as too risky. Roper finds evidence of betrayal, and gathers his entourage around him at his own private army base, in an attempt to root out the traitor.
With the arms in transit, Pine takes an escalating series of risks to protect his cover and expose Roper. In London, Burr and Steadman face mounting opposition from Whitehall.
Series Finale. As Roper closes the deal with the buyers, and circles in on the traitor, Pine and Burr must fight to save their operation, but also their lives.
